He has left the world with this treasure of himself for us to remember him by and enjoy, long after he is gone. You can feel the emotion from his heart when you listen to it. A true #1 Class Act. At 77 years of age how did I miss him? Thanks to PBS I heard him for the first time. He restores my pleasure in music. He "speaks" to my life experience. So wonderful at this stage in life. Great album on all levels (01 August 2010)The quality of the amazing musicians, like Javier Mas, Sharon Robinson and the backup singers, and the marvelous arrangements make this a truly great album. Leonard Cohen is graceful and deep voiced and totally present, not exceeding the limits of his voice but using it as a lyrical tool, perfectly integrated with his terrific ensemble. As others have written, this music is not just a sentimental experience or rehearing of tunes you liked in the past, but a truly satisfying musical experience in the now. Thanks, Leonard Cohen. |
