  A Wonderful Christmas Gift... (26 December 2008)
2007's Celtic Woman: A Christmas Celebration" features the famous Irish group in their five-woman configuration, performing in Dublin backed by the Irish Film Orchestra and the Philharmonic Choir. The result is a beautifully arranged mixture of traditional Christmas songs in a visually lush presentation.

Among the selections: Carol of the Bells, Little Drummer Boy, In The Bleak Mid-Winter, and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. Some songs are presented ensemble, others feature solos by one or another of the Celtic Women. David Downes did many of the arrangements and alternately accompanies on piano or directs the orchestra.

"A Christmas Celebration" is very highly recommended to fans of Celtic Woman and those looking for a classic Christmas presentation on DVD. This presentation has been previously broadcast on PBS in 2007 and 2008.

  Superbb (22 December 2008)
Other reviewers have gone more in depth on their reviews about the songs played and the singing and have done a better overview than I can do.

What I can say about this dvd is that it has become a classic in our home after two years. We LOVE this dvd. The music is excellent. There are a wide variety of songs from the opening song to the end. There are traditional songs, hymns, and even just fun Christmassy songs.

My three children have watched this several times over and as always we remain amazed that they can sing so beautifully. The violin player even dances while she plays!

It is obvious they were enjoying themselves up on the stage and we have enjoyed watching them each year at Christmas time.

Well worth every penny.
enjoy.

Celtic Woman Christmas Celebration (16 December 2008)
I've heard these women on PBS many times and have heard the song they do, "O Holy Night" and just had to buy this DVD. It is totally awesome and you will not be disappointed.
Love their ending song too...."Let it Snow"...this DVD by Celtic Woman will warm your home at Christmas.
The production quality is perfection at it's best....a must have DVD.

I'd gladly buy tics for a Celtic Woman Christmas Concert. (09 December 2008)
I had listened to the CD from this project before seeing the video. I am impressed. Let me give you several things I'm impressed with.

1. I'm impressed the song order on the DVD is different from the CD list. You have the same songs, but it creates interest for the song list to be changed. For instance, the CD starts with "O Holy Night", while the video begins with "Carol Of The Bells".

2. I'm impressed with the choreography. It is simple, which adds to the beauty of it. In other words, it does not distract from the song. I especially loved the choreography (as well as the arrangement) of "The Little Drummer Boy".

3. I'm impressed with the outfits. The ladies look beautiful, but the dresses are fairly modest, which is something I don't take for granted.

4. I'm impressed with Mairead's musicianship. She is a joy to watch, partially because she gives the impression she has joy in performing.

One last comment. I saw the video of "A New Journey" (not the original), and I like Lisa's hairstyle here better than the one in the new video.

Okay, one more last comment. I thought "Let It Snow" was fun.

  It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas ( C W Style) (02 December 2008)
It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas, so haul out the holly, and trim the tree, and get ready for the most beautiful Christmas Collection this side of the Golden Gates. I play this CD when it is not even Christmas and just love every minute of it-esp "Little Drummer Boy" perhaps I'm hooked on repetition as I have always enjoyed this song, but with the Gregorian chant added and Chloe singing the part of the little lad who wants to play the drum for Baby Jesu and Ray Fean solemnly drumming away- this is an incredble production led by Orla's flawless intro. Space does not permit me here to extoll each one of these songs as I would like to. I think the time-worn carols we often hear blaring out of commercial stores and elevators take on a whole new robust and invigorating manner that slaps you upside the head and opens your eyes to the intrinsic beauty of "Noel" and "O Come all Ye Faithful" no triteness here-just magnificence-glorious visual and aural praises to the "Reason for the Season" ! I get such peace within knowing David Downes has been allowed to commercially share his gifts of arrangments, direction and compositions with us. How wonderful it is to own this DVD-if you are looking for some Christmas Cheer-you found it here!
